The Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Emmanuel Alex-Hart, said yesterday that the Commission is set for the conduct of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections. He disclosed that all the sensitive election materials earlier delivered to the state for the conduct of the elections were intact at the Benin Office of the Central Bank of Nige-ria (CBN).

Alex-Hart, who told newsmen that the Commission would commence the distribution of the materials by 6.30 am today, however, assured the people that none of the materials had been removed from the CBN to any part of the state.

The REC said: “Yesterday I led all political parties, security personnel and other stakeholders involved in the conduct of the elections to inspect the materials at CBN and I can confirm that all the materials are intact and complete,” he said. “None of the materials have left the CBN for any local government area of the state.

We are still sorting out the materials when the news of the postponement of the elections came to us. So, the materials are complete and are still with the CBN. “This morning we received materials from Akure, the Ondo State capital, and we are also expecting more from Asaba, the Delta State capital, today.”
